Katherine Hicks is a historical archaeologist and doctoral candidate at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, studying under Shannon Novak, PhD, and Douglas Armstrong, PhD. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from Kent State University and a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Cincinnati.
For her doctoral dissertation research, she is studying the Spring Street Presbyterian Church burial vaults and the surrounding 8th Ward neighborhood of New York City. She is working with the mortuary and intrusive artifacts from the Spring Street burial vault site to reconstruct and understand the landscape of the 8th Ward, and what life was like in this neighborhood during the 19th century.
